KeyBoard Kid, the #TreeGod, gives us his first self-titled album under that moniker.  Only available on TUMBLR, don’t go scratching away on his bandcamp.  The last time we saw the #TreeGod, he was handling his #based experiences in the rain.  Here, we’re transported to the trees.  Greenery in our lungs, greenery all around, we explore, discovering new and exciting varieties of trees and sounds.  There are far too many sounds on this tape to characterize it by one alone.  The continuity that #TreeGod holds comes from the various pairings of sound types.  The relationship between the sounds stays consistent, building a distinct experience.  

With a sample that connects tracks sonically, KBK captures the expanse of the known forested world.  With others, KBK fades into a colorful distance, enlivened by new textures and drums that beat down.  KBK commands both the sights of the forest and the experience of being in it.  We both see it and feel it.  No windy bristles needed, just a little texture variation.  With big claps, our steps move farther, deeper into the trees.  

KBK is able to transport us.  Instead of capturing the “sound” of trees like he did with the sounds of rain/water previously, he captures the feeling of being around trees.  This tape would be great background for walking around a new forest.  With every corner holding a new set of sounds and experiences, maybe we’ll even reach a clearing.  Maybe we’ll climb a tree.  Maybe we’ll just sit underneath one.  

Most of the tracks are soft journeys amplified by the set of samples mentioned above.  One part natural ease, one part personalized banging energy.  Every track plays the balance between what is natural and what is constructed.  Once again, KBK is able to discover a story, an experience, through sound.  It doesn’t have a character or plot elements, but the concepts that hold each track together are the same.  This creates a cohesion centered around a common play of influences.  The #TreeGod gives us his experience of the forest.
