#OMG The Transition’ by is selected as bass music release of the month by KMag…

1. KEYBOARD KID 206 – THE TRANSITION EP (DONKY PITCH – DKY005)
Coming off the back of a slew of well received mixtapes and production credits for Lil B, Seattle based producer Keyboard Kid 206’s first official solo release comes courtesy of Brighton’s Donky Pitch crew. ‘The Transition’ EP features five tracks of hyper-charged synths, rude drum line swagger and bizarre divergences and is one of the most intriguing releases to come out so far this year. Immediately exploding in a shower of maximalist colour, opener ‘WelcomeX’ sets the pace and tone of the EP. From there, title track ‘TheTransition’ adds an additional sense of drama to proceedings before ‘BasedExcorcism’ reels it back in slightly. On ‘TheMost’ Keyboard Kid channels the sickly sweet synths of trance into an intense MPC workout before the EP is played out on the uncompromising hyper-charged trance of ‘Long Live Swag’. Here it would seem Keyboard Kid is making the transition from bedroom producer to a fully fledged artist, and one who prospers with the freedom of working alone – highly recommended!
