Been seeing this name for a second on twitter/tumblr and I finally found some of his #rare music. Goddamn, this was worth the search. Swagged out rapps over drugged out, hypnotic, distorted beats. The Screw influence is definitely apparent in his music. I’m definitely gonna be on the look out for more material from this dude. And I’m not sure, but I think he’s from/around the Bay Area, which only adds to number of young, exciting talent from the region.
Juicy J - “Who Da Neighbors” (Mixtape, 2011) KOBE BRYANT FROM DA LAKERS / NOW THATS PAPER! Borderline “I Ain’t A Mirror“ moves with that hook but it bangs. Maybe I’ll post nothing but Lex Luger productions today. Him and Juice are (already?!) about to drop a sequel to their Rubber Band Business tape.
Shout out To Andrew Matson! #YES! Another #SEATTLETIMES mention! #BASED
“Based in the Rain" was a smart move by Seattle-area producer Keyboard Kid, a collection of instrumentals made famous by Bay Area rapper Lil B in recent years. It’s not that Lil B doesn’t give Keyboard Kid his props — he does — but so much of B’s "based" sound is due to Keyboard Kid’s airy, brittle, sample-in-reverse beats, and people don’t realize that. - ANDREW MATSON
